BACB 6th Edition and 2027 Requirements

UCSB PaCE is proud to announce that our BCBA and BCaBA program fully aligns with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board’s (BACB) 6th Edition Task List and coursework requirements.

In preparation for the BACB’s updated standards taking effect in January 1st, 2027, UCSB PaCE is further enhancing its program by adding two new courses to meet the revised content distribution and instructional hour requirements. These additions ensure that students remain on a clear path toward BCBA/BCaBA® certification while gaining the most up-to-date and comprehensive training in the field.

If you are planning to complete the BCBA Program and take the BACB exam by December 31st, 2026, you are required to complete all 7 courses listed on the program page (but not ED X310A.5), and pass the Competency course (ED X309D.5) to successfully complete the BCBA Program and be eligible for the coursework attestation.

If you plan to complete the BCBA Program and sit for the BACB exam beginning January 1, 2027, you must meet the updated program requirements. This includes completing ED X310A.5 (instead of ED X309C.5), taking a second assessment course (course details forthcoming), and successfully passing the Competency course. All of these requirements must be completed in order to finish the BCBA Program and qualify for coursework attestation.

Completion of all 7 courses (of 8 courses) will meet the requirements of 315 coursework hours per BACB. However, students must also pass the competency course (ED X309D.5) in order to successfully complete the BCBA program.*
