Instructions for Importing UCSB Canvas Template

Please note that you can find the below instructions on Canvas as well under "PaCE Instructor Resources".

Step 1: Log into your Canvas account and go to your course page. 

Step 2: On the right hand side there is a button that says, Import from Commons 


 

Step 3: At the top of the Commons page, search for UCSB PaCE

Step 4: Once you click on the UCSB PaCE Template 2.0 box, it will take you to a new page. On that page, on the right hand side, select the import/download button. 


 

Step 5: Once you select the import/download button, a list of your courses will appear. Select the course you want to import/download the template into. You can also select all of the courses. 

 

Step 6: Once you select the courses, at the bottom, select import into Course.


 

Step 7: Once you select the button, you will see a message that states, “You have successfully started the import…” 

 

Step 8: On the left hand side, select the dashboard button.


 

Step 9: Once on the home page, you will see the template. It should look like the image below. You will need to edit the different pages.

 

Step 10: Select the Edit button on the main home page.


 

Step 11: Once you select edit, you can adjust the text and the image. To edit the image, select the image/icon that looks like a picture. Select the UPLOAD image and upload your own headshot/image. 

 

Step 12: Scroll down and edit additional text - instructor name, title, company and course information.


 

Step 13: DO NOT EDIT ANYTHING AFTER THE COURSE INFORMATION. DO NOT CHANGE THE IMAGES.




 

Step 14: Go back to the home page. There are 9 boxes. You need to edit 7 out of the 9 boxes. The boxes that DOES NOT need to be adjusted/edited are the “Expectations and Policies” Box and “Canvas Help and Tutorial” Box. 


 

Step 15: When you click on each box, it is the same way to edit the text. Click on the EDIT button on the upper right hand corner and adjust the text. 

 

Step 16: You will also want to adjust your modules. The module tab is on the left hand side and it is also linked to the course content box.


 

Step 17: In the module tab, you can add/delete assignments, readings, etc.
