F-1 Visa Regulations for New and Continuing Students

New F-1 students who choose to attempt entry to the U.S. must have an in-person component in their class schedule. Anyone attempting to enter the U.S. must have a valid entry visa and not be from a country subject to any current travel bans.

Continuing students have been authorized to take their full course load online. These students may enroll in online classes full-time through UCSB International Programs. Students will be able to maintain their visa status under these special circumstances.

All students are still expected to maintain the minimum unit load and comply with other regulatory requirements associated with their visa status unless otherwise authorized.
