Certificate Eligibility and Requirements - Strategic Investments

A certificate is awarded upon completion of the two (2) prerequisite courses and seven (7) required courses totaling 18 units, listed in the Program Schedule, each with a letter grade of “C” or better. All requirements must be completed within five (5) years after the student enrolls in his/her first course. Students not pursuing a certificate are welcome to take as many courses as they wish.

To participate in this program, students must first complete the following (or equivalent) courses ECON 1 - Microeconomics and ECON 2 - Macroeconomics with a letter grade of C (or "Pass") or better.

Students may substitute credit for ECON X499.1 with proof of completion of ECON 134A - Financial Management with a C grade or better.

To be admitted to the program, students must complete the Strategic Investments Application and pay the $30 non-refundable candidacy fee. Applications will be processed within 2 business days, with a decision being sent via email no later than the 3rd business day.

Note to students that started the program and completed a course during or before Fall 2023 Term:

ECON X499.5 will no longer be a required course to complete the program.  If you have already completed the course, it will count as two units toward your 3 unit elective requirement.
