Open University Scholarships FAQ

Who?

Scholarships are reserved to all residents of Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura and Kern counties who are interested in taking UCSB courses via Open University, regardless of their previous UCSB affiliation.

Current UCSB registered students are not eligible for these scholarships. In order to be eligible, current UCSB students need to deregister from main campus for the quarter selected.

UCSB students who have been dismissed are not eligible for these scholarships. Please find more information on our Open University Program here.

When?

Open University Scholarships are available for Fall, Winter and Spring Quarters. Apply anytime up to 4 weeks before the start of the quarter according to the UCSB academic calendar when you intend to take your class. Scholarships must be used during the quarter the Awardees are selected. They cannot be transferred to another quarter.

Fall 2024 Quarter Scholarships - Awardees have already been notified

How much?

Scholarships cover 100% of the Open University tuition costs for one course. The $25 non-refundable quarterly enrollment fee, textbooks, and additional lab fees are not covered. They are payable by the student. Please find detailed instructions on how to enroll in our Open University Program here.

Enrollment is dependent on space availability. Please note that enrollment approval is ultimately at the Academic Department's discretion. If you are unable to enroll in the course of your choice during the quarter in question, please email help@professional.ucsb.edu for deferment options.

How do I apply for this Scholarship?

Regardless of your Scholarship status, you will still be eligible to take UCSB courses through Open University and earn credits towards your degree completion.
