What is a Form I-20?

A Form I-20 is the certificate of eligibility issued by a Designated School Official (DSO) at the school where you wish to enroll. This form will be included in your acceptance packet and has three pages. You will use this to apply for an F-1 student visa at a U.S. Embassy or consulate for the purpose of studying in the U.S. Your SEVIS ID number is printed on the first and second pages. The I-20 specifies a start and end date for your studies.

Note: Each dependent who accompanies you to the U.S. must have an individual F-2 Dependent Form I-20.
