When and how can I enroll in UCSB Academic courses?

You can enroll in academic courses during the enrollment period of each quarter. There is no opportunity to enroll in academic courses pre-arrival.

During the first 3 weeks of the quarter, students visit the classes they want to take. You can digitally send the Enrollment Authorization Form to get enrollment approval. For the correct contact for each department, please review the list here

When the form is completed, it will automatically be sent to our office for formal enrollment. Because you pay a per-quarter flat tuition fee, there will be no individual course payments.

To recap:

  1. Search for UCSB Academic courses in the quarter of study.
  2. Send your enrollment form to the correct recipient for approval (department advisor, or Professor.)
  3. Once approved, you will be formally enrolled by our Customer Service Team and notified via email.
  4. Only after you receive the email from our Customer Service Team confirming your enrollment, you can send your Canvas form to the professor to be added to the course site. Please do not send the Canvas form to the professor until you receive the enrollment confirmation email from us. If you have never logged into Canvas before, please log into Canvas first, using your UCSBNetID and password. This creates your account.
