When and How to Enroll in Professional Courses?
To enroll in your professional courses, follow these steps and guidelines:
1. Access Your Professional Course Enrollment Form
- Form Delivery: You should receive your personalized Professional Course Enrollment Form link via email a few weeks before your quarter begins.
- Check Your Email: Look for a separate invitation email with the subject “You are Invited to Complete the UCSB International Programs Professional Course Enrollment Form” and click Accept Invitation to set up your password. You must accept this invitation email to access the form. (If you do not see it, check your spam folder or contact help@professional.ucsd.edu.)
- Log In: Once logged in, open your student record and click Enroll Now. Your form will automatically load the quarters you are enrolled in and display courses with open seats.
2. Select Courses
Choose your professional courses, if applicable (note: professional courses are separate from undergraduate/graduate courses; instructions on how to enroll in undergraduate/graduate courses can be found here).
Select one or two professional courses if you also want to enroll in an undergraduate course. If you select three courses, you may change your program to the International Certificate Program.
Visa Regulations & Course Rules
- Full-Time Status: You must be enrolled in at least 12 units to maintain full-time status for your visa.
- Online Course Limit: Due to visa regulations, you may select only 1 online course per quarter towards your full schedule.
Deadlines, Processing & Verification
- Recommended Submission: Please submit your course selections at least 4 weeks before the quarter begins, as courses fill up quickly.
- Enroll/Drop Deadlines: Check the specific add/drop deadlines for each course posted on the course page. No requests to enroll or drop will be accepted after these dates. Exceptions may be made depending on the case.
- Processing Time: Requests take up to 2 business days to process.
- Verify Enrollment: Please check and verify your finalized course enrollments directly through your Student Portal.
Note: You must enroll in courses before the first class meeting and no later than the end of the second class meeting. Spaces are not guaranteed and are on a space-available basis. These spots fill up quickly.
