Open University Degree Credit

UCSB Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) does not grant degrees, nor are degrees awarded through the Open University Program. However, UCSB academic course credits earned through UCSB Open University (XSB1 to XSB199 Undergraduate Open University courses) can be applied to degree programs at UCSB and all University of California. More information can be found here.

*UCSB students should note that courses numbered X300-399 and X400-499 are professional-level (post-baccalaureate) credit courses and lecture series in fields other than education and therefore will not apply to degree credit.*

Please review the full procedure on how to enroll in Open University here.

Degree Credit for Another University
If you are seeking a degree at another university, you are urged to verify acceptability of credit earned through Open University with your own university academic program advisor prior to enrollment through UCSB Open University Program.

Admission to the University of California
Participating in the Open University Program does not provide preference in admission to the University of California. If you are interested in applying to the University of California you should refer to the UC Admissions website or the admissions office of the UC campus you wish to attend for details about the admissions process.
