Procedures For Requesting Disability Services for PaCE Programs/courses
Step 1: As early as possible, but no later than three weeks before any instruction begins, contact us at help@professional.ucsb.edu with your written request for Disability Services detailing the specific need and the course/s you need the special services for.
Step 2: The following documentation is required in order to receive Disability Services:
- A written request outlining your needs and describing your limitations due to disability as covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
- Written notification on official letterhead from a physician, certified specialist or professional counselor, verifying your disability and outlining any need for special services. The documentation from your treating practitioner must be no more than 6 months old, meaning you must have been seen by him/her in the last 6 months. Depending on your needs, additional documentation may be requested.
Please note that if you are a current UCSB student already registered with UCSB Disabled Students Program, you will still need to contact PaCE directly to request Disability Services since UCSB DSP does not provide accommodations for PaCE Programs/courses. UCSB DSP only provides accommodations for UCSB academic courses. When sending your written request to PaCE, please provide the same medical documentation you submitted to UCSB DSP.
Step 3: A plan will be determined for providing you with services, and a timeline will be established for when services will begin. Services will only be arranged once you provide payment in full for Professional and Continuing Education course(s).
Note: Written requests that are received later than two weeks before instruction begins may limit our ability to provide you with the requested services in time for the first day of class.
