UCSB Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) uses Canvas, the leading LMS among major public research universities. You log into Canvas to participate in course discussions, access readings, take quizzes, upload assignments, etc. In some cases, you can track your grades for your course.

Because you are a UCSB matriculated student, you have likely used Canvas before. However UCSB PaCE courses require a separate Canvas account.

Please make sure that your ucsb.edu email address is your preferred email address in your PaCE Student Profile before you enroll in a PaCE course.

Within an hour of enrolling in a PaCE course, but no sooner than 60 days before the beginning of the course, you will receive an email similar to the one below from our online learning platform, UCSB Canvas, with instructions on how to complete your Canvas registration and access your online course. The email will be sent to the email address you have selected as your preferred email address in your PaCE Student profile. Please check your spam folder in case the email landed there.

No, you do not need to complete the application prior to enrolling in individual courses. To determine if you meet the prerequisites for a particular course, check the online description by clicking on the course link. If you are planning to complete a certificate program, we ask that you apply by the time you are enrolled in your third course, so we can better track your progress toward successful completion.

You can enroll by clicking on the course link, adding it to your cart, and checking out with payment. Most professional and continuing education courses and certificate programs qualify for employer-paid tuition reimbursement. Be sure to check with your employer about any employee assistance programs that you may be eligible to receive.
